This page distinguishes the Rope Notes application from the public website. They have different data flows.

The Rope Notes application

Rope Notes is designed to keep the core editing workflow on your device. The application does not require a Rope Notes account for ordinary use, and it does not include in-app advertising or analytics by default.

When you configure an AI backend, the application sends requests to the endpoint or provider you select. A local backend, a private network endpoint, and a hosted provider have different privacy policies and network behavior. Review the provider's terms before sending sensitive material.

Optional synchronization also depends on the devices and peers you explicitly configure. It is not a promise that every feature is offline or that an external provider cannot receive data you send to it.

The Rope Notes website

The website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and improve documentation. Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser details, and referral information according to Google's settings and policies.

The website also loads EmailJS on the homepage so visitors can request a license or ask a question. If you submit that form, your name, email address, and any optional message are sent through EmailJS so we can respond. Do not include source code, credentials, private URLs, or other sensitive information in the form.

The site may link to Google Play, GitHub, Dart and Flutter documentation, model providers, and other external services. Those sites operate independently and may collect information when you visit them.

What we do not claim

“Local-first” does not mean that every optional integration is offline. “Private” does not mean that a hosted provider receives nothing when you intentionally configure and use that provider. The relevant endpoint, platform, and settings determine the actual data path.
