Remote conversations
Follow desktop Codex conversations from Android, steer work, approve tools, and review changes through Rope Notes.
Rope Notes integrates with OpenAI's Codex so you can work with desktop conversations from Android. Read the conversation and tool activity, respond to approval requests, steer work, and review file changes while the agent executes on the connected desktop.
Rope Notes is independently developed by Patrick Legacy. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by OpenAI. Codex and ChatGPT are OpenAI products. A Rope Notes license does not include access to their services.
Connect to a desktop
Use a current Rope Notes build and a compatible desktop setup that exposes remote-control pairing. You need your own access to the desktop service and network connectivity. Integration availability depends on the installed desktop version and its supported connection flow.
- On Android, open Control Plane and use its ChatGPT connection card to scan the desktop's remote-control QR code. Follow the connection and authorization prompts.
- Select the connected desktop and workspace, then use Open Agent Browser to browse its conversations.
- Open a conversation to follow its transcript, tool activity, and pending requests. Check the selected workspace before sending a message or approving work.
Remote conversation access, Rope device pairing, and P2P workspace sync are separate connections. Connecting a conversation does not automatically share your phone's files or editor buffers.
Direct and review work
- Follow: Inspect replies, commands, tool activity, and completion summaries.
- Approve: Allow or deny supported pending tool requests from the phone.
- Steer: Queue a follow-up for the next turn or choose Send now to steer a running turn. Continue an idle conversation with a new message.
- Review: Inspect changed-file cards and diff hunks, then send review comments to the same conversation.
- Continue: Start a new conversation or fork an idle conversation where supported.
Link the remote workspace to the corresponding phone workspace and enable P2P sync to open delivered changes locally. Follow agent can open newly completed file changes in the linked workspace.
Share live context or run the result
Use Rope Session to explicitly share live buffers and workspace observations with the connected desktop agent. Use Rope Pages to interact with supported web source on the phone. Neither capability is enabled merely by opening a remote conversation.
Connection changes and service access
Remote work needs connectivity. Cached history can remain readable after a disconnect, but it is not proof of the desktop's current state. Reconnect and refresh before acting. Desktop builds and artifact transfer use the separate Control Plane workflow.
Your chosen service's account requirements, charges, terms, and availability apply independently of Rope Notes.
